Our Guide to Flower Budgeting

With your wedding flowers you can go as big or as little as you like, just think about what you want to see in your photos.  Think about other weddings you’ve been to, what do you remember?  Did it matter that there were masses of flowers on the tables or no flowers?

When we’re putting together a price, it’s not just the cost of the flowers, it’s also a service.  We want to create something beautiful for you that’s going to look great in your photos, so we’re going to want to spend a bit time talking to you, thinking about the flowers we order and putting the bouquet together.  We love what we do and take pride in it, which is why florists charge more for their wedding flower service than their normal bouquet service.  And of course if we’re coming to set up flowers at the venue you’ll need to factor in a travel cost.

We’ve made it easy for you so if it’s only flowers for the bridal party you’re after then you can order them here.

Under $1000 – should get you your personal flowers for a small bridal party (bride, groom, two bridesmaids and groomsmen or less) OR if you have no bridal party this could include a couple of reception pieces or archway flowers.

$1000 – $2000 – this should cover your personal flowers for medium-large bridal party (bride, groom, up to 5 bridesmaids and groomsmen) and a few family boutonnieres/corsages OR personal flowers for a smaller bridal party, some family pieces and archway flowers or a couple of reception pieces

$2000-$3000 – this should cover all of your personal flowers, family pieces, archway flowers, bridal table arrangement and small stem vases for guest tables depending on the size of your bridal party this may cover some larger feature arrangements for reception.

$3000-$5000 – this should cover all of your personal flower, family pieces, archway flowers, bridal table arrangement and small stem vases for guest tables or foliage on guest tables, some large feature arrangements for reception and some large statement impact features like hanging foliage garlands.

$5000 + this should cover all of your personal flower, family pieces, archway flowers, bridal table arrangement and guest tables, some large feature arrangements for reception and ceremony and some large statement impact features like hanging foliage garlands. If your wanting something full of flowers or something extra lush think big photo back drop or full foliage ladders.

These price brackets are just an example to show you what will realistically fit into your budget. There are lots of pieces we haven’t mentioned and of course we can play around to see what fits into your budget. This is in no way a quote just a simple guide to manage expectations.

We have no minimum spend and are happy working with couples regardless of their budget. It does help us in the planning stages to know up front what budget bracket you fall into so we can help you get the most from your budget. We are happy to make suggestions where your money is best spend to get the most impact on the day.  If you’d like to spread the cost of the flowers out, and pay monthly let us know.

Another thing to note is Pinterest wedding photos are not always realistic. They are quite often styled shoots and a lot are from overseas. We don’t have the same flower availability here in New Zealand and as we promote sustailable floristry we don’t personally import flowers. We use flowers that are New Zealand grown and seasonal.  In saying that Pinterest is great for inspiration, we love using it to create our mood boards! But if you do want something very lush and full of flowers please mention this at the beginning so we can quote appropriately.
